DESCRIPTION:Oceanside Music introduces its first music theory course for beginner and experienced musicians wanting to learn to read music. The course is instructed by our Musical Director\, Ed Dumas\, B.Ed.\, M.A.Ed.\, retired educator and band conductor with over 40 years’ experience. Participants will learn: \n\nNote names\nBase and treble clef\nNote and rest durations\nRhythm and counting\n4/4\, 3/4 and 2/4 time signatures\nStep and leap motion\nDotted notes\nTones & semitones\nTies and slurs\nDynamics\nTempo and style terms\nRepeats\nArticulation markings\nFlats\, sharps\, and natural signs\nWhole and half steps\nEnharmonic notes\nTetrachords and major scales\nChromatic scales\nScale design names\nIntroduction to intervals\nCircle of fifths\n\nCourse starts Thursday September 11th and ends Thursday December 11th\, 2025.
