Concert Choir
Oceanside Concert Choir is a community choir open to people of all ages. Auditions are not required, and you don’t need to be able to read music. All you need is a love for music, a willingness to listen, and a desire to learn. The Oceanside Concert Choir performs twice a year at the Knox United Church in Parksville, BC. They are well-known for their sold-out performances of Handel’s ‘Messiah’ performed every few years at Christmas time, and their spring concerts that take place just before Easter.

Music Director
The Oceanside Concert Choir began in 1969 under the directorship of Colin Forbes. The choir has been led by many directors in his history with Ann Barber-Becqué as its current Musical Director since 1992. Ann’s philosophy is for the choir to fulfill Oceanside Music’s objective of bringing high quality music to the Oceanside area through the performance of excellent classical and concert choral repertoire. This provides singers and audiences alike a mix of famous and modern composers, sacred and secular music. Every season offers members new repertoire that may be a bit beyond their easy comfort level at the time, but it’s how singers and the choir overall acquire more skill and audiences are introduced to different works from one concert to the next.
