Thanks to all that attended Oceanside Concert Band’s performance, Of Castles and Kings, last Sunday where we debuted The Carleton played by Gerry Jeffs. The Carleton is a gorgeous tuba with a special place in our hearts. It was originally owned and played by local musician, Daryl Amos, who passed away in 2025. Thanks to his wife, Lorraine Semple and dear friend, Dave Fullerton, Oceanside Music acquired Daryl’s tuba last fall. One of our musicians stated that it never ceases to amaze them how the foundation of a tuba brings a band’s sound to life. And boy, were they right. What an impressive sound it was. Oceanside Music is forever grateful to Lorraine for this impressive instrument that has become an integral part of our family.
